It would be lovely if we could pin a post to the top. I would love to introduce new users to how Nolt works and give an introduction of the app too :)
Thanks for your suggestion, Niyog! You can change the board description by clicking on the cog icon in the lower left corner and navigating to “General Settings”. Would that meet your needs?
Another open post with similar underlying requirements: Extra Page for Board Rules #38
Could someone elaborate on the use-cases that pinning a post would solve? In the meantime, we have increased the board description limit, and added support for Markdown, so that the board header is very versatile in what information it can store. See the example in the attachment 👇
One use-case, at least for me, could come in combination with #96 ! I would like to make a sticky post and explain to my users, that I will randomly select one (or more) user every month who wins something (some kind of reward system for active contributers).
Any updates on this? It would be a fantastic way to give people the link to our beta app for testing!
Thanks, Jordan. I’m not entirely sold on this idea yet. The description field in the board header supports Markdown, including links and paragraphs. To me, it seems like a perfect place for your beta link. A pinned post is still a post that can be voted and commented on – which is usually not necessary for such announcements. What benefits do you see in having the ability to pin a post compared to the text in the board header?
That’s a good point. Still, a pinned post would be much more visible than the description header, which I think most people will visually skip and start looking at the tasks instead.
@Jordan Lejuwaan I have seen that you added the beta link to your board header. Let me know if you see issues with users not noticing that information. You can even make it more prominent if needed by using bold text (https://nolt.io/help/markdown) or including emojis.
Thanks, Jaewoo. Would you mind elaborating on your use case a bit more? What type of questions are these? If they are specific to a single suggestion, a “Needs community input” tag could help identify those posts with open questions.
Oh thats a workaround that could work. Even still, it wouldn’t always stay pinned to the top.
For example, we might want to merge two of our applications into one. But we aren’t confident whether the customers actually would want this or not. We want to create a post for customers to chime in. It would be nice if pinned posts could include a simple poll too.
@Jaewoo Kim Thanks for your feedback and details. There’s an open post regarding the polling feature: #238
Would be great to see this one implemented. I’m currently working on a rewrite of my application, over the course of a few months, and posting updates in a rewrite ticket, being able to pin this ticket to the top would be helpful so users know what I’m working on.
Pin a post is now available! To do so, go to the post you want to pin, and click … > Pin
