Featured posts#383

The Why:
By default, users visiting the nolt page are presented with the most voted features. Perhaps they vote for a few of the obvious ones. But that’s it.
Some of those features might not even be on the horizon for the devs, for good reasons.
The new arrivals don’t really get a chance, especially when it’s #400

The How:
In addition to the dropdown to sort by most voted / newest… you can allow a “Featured” option. To which the board owners can add eg. #400 on the fly if they think it’s valuable and want more users to ponder about it’s value & vote.
This list can then be rearranged via drag&drop.
And it can be set as default.

Thanks, Hurty18!

The default sorting for new Nolt boards is “Trending”, which is basically a mix of “Newest” and “Most voted”. With the Trending algorithm, the number of votes and the submission time have the largest effect on where a post will rank. This also means that the first votes on a post are more valuable, and as posts get older, their ranking will slowly degrade. Compared to “Most voted”, “Trending” gives new posts more visibility.

Board admins can change the default sort order in the board settings under “Default view”.

In addition to the dropdown to sort by most voted / newest… you can allow a “Featured” option.

A workaround, for now, could be to add a custom Select field to your board with “Featured” as an option (https://nolt.io/help/custom-fields). This enables you and your board visitors to filter posts with your tag (https://nolt.io/help/custom-fields-filtering). I hope this helps!
