Keep anonymous data when disabling anonymous actions#371

Currently, disabling “Allow anonymous actions” in the board settings also hides existing anonymous votes, comments, and posts. Changing that setting should not hide existing data.

Hey @Daniel from Nolt any updates on this? We would really appreciate it. There are more and more “difficult” anonymous actions coming up in our community. But at the same time we really don’t want to wipe away hundreds of valid anonymous posts, comments and votes.

We just experienced this… The hard way.
Since the beginning of our board, we’ve had anonymous accounts enabled. It worked well for 2 years, but recently we’ve had issues and thought about disabling anonymous actions. Someone on our team just switched the setting, which we all agreed on.
There was no pop-up to confirm, no nothing.
We later realized that some posts seemed to have been deleted. And looking at the weekly reports, many votes had been lost too.
For about two hours now, we’ve been looking for the one who deleted a few posts, and after figuring out it was due to the anonymous actions setting, we were mourning over the loss of several hundreds of posts. Finding out that they were actually just “hidden” was a relief.

Still. Hiding anonymous posts should be a separate thing, and there should be a pop-up, something to indicate what is going to happen.

It’s a blocker for me and anyone who wants to disable anonymous posts with an existing board.

Any update on this? We launched our board permitting anonymous comments and feedback, in order to try better the service, then activated the SSO option, but we cannot disable the anonymous option without losing all the previous comments… :(
